Red wine is an alcoholic beverage many of us like to enjoy. Unfortunately that enjoyable glass of red wine can have a very negative impact on your teeth. Specifically, it can result in staining. No one likes to be out at a restaurant, enjoying a great meal and glass of red wine only to realise that they’ve got red stains on their teeth.
For some people it can be quite an embarrassing moment and make you feel very self-conscious for the rest of the evening. Even worse if you are out on a date! However, you really don’t have to give up your favourite glass of red wine just because it stains your teeth.
In fact, there are a few things you can do that drastically limit the staining effect on your teeth and even eradicate it altogether.
- 1) Brushing your teeth before you go out
One of the main reasons why red wine stains teeth is because it latches onto the tartar and plaque build-up on your teeth. If you brush your teeth before you go out then there is nothing for the particles in the wine to stick to.
- 2) Sip on some water
Water has a cleansing effect on the teeth so you should sip on some water while drinking your wine to reduce potential effects of staining.
- 3) Use wine wipes
If you really want to get rid of any red white stains then use wine wipes. They are very cheap and you can simply wipe your teeth after drinking the wine. This is perhaps the best way to deal with staining.
- 4) Eat some food while you drink
There are certain foods that are known to reduce the effects of staining. Some of those foods include broccoli, Brussel sprouts, potatoes and more. Yes, you may not want to eat vegetables but this is a great excuse to at least eat healthy while you’re out. So nibble on some healthy food while drinking your wine and it will reduce the staining effect.
We know that the stain from red wine is a serious concern for many people but it’s surprisingly easy to deal with. Just follow the tips above and you’ll never have to worry about feeling embarrassed or self-conscious ever again when you’re out.
